Mission statement
Independence and integration for Orihuela Costa is the aim of Partido Independencia Orihuela Costa (PIOC).
We welcome you to join us. Our aims and objectives to gain Independence rely on you, the residents of Orihuela Costa.
You, have a right to vote for Independence and not be shackled to the Orihuela city government, which continue to ignore you and treat you as second class citizens, the residents of Orihuela Costa.
Together, we can achieve Independence successfully, if we all work as one. Our motto is, "together we can, one step at a time".
We believe integration is paramount in achieving a successful outcome for future generations, living in harmony, working together.
Orihuela Costa is a new town, created by people from more than 100 countries. A multi-cultural, diverse community of all ages and nationalities to enjoy their new home in the sun, making history!
Most of you chose to live in Orihuela Costa because you believed the infrastructure and services would soon be in place to create a town worthy of being a JEWEL IN THE CROWN of Spain.
Sadly, Orihuela Costa residents have been let down, badly, by the local government. The current infrastructure and services are not acceptable for the 80,000 plus residents who live permanently on the coast.
There has been only one Councillor from the coast who represented You in 2011, he resigned his position as Councillor of the Coast after 2 years, not enough time to make an impact!
It has taken years to learn the hard way, Orihuela Costa residents have campaigned to be heard, been ignored, mainly because not everyone understood the rules of Spanish Politics, perhaps they have had enough of false promises in their home country, whatever the reason, you can create a better future for YOU and everyone living in Orihuela Costa.
Approx 30,000 are registered on the Padron, including 4,000 under 18 years. Therefore, approximately 50,000 are not registered, resulting in a loss of revenue, of millions of euros.
Furthermore, this would equate for each person not registered a loss of €200 from the central government plus revenue from Europe and the Generalitat Valenciana for projects which would total approximately €300 per person.
A loss of approximately €15 million, a fortune which could be spent on improved infrastructure and services for the Coast.
Everyone should register on the Padron and exercise their right to Vote!
Together we can be heard. You have a voice. You can vote in the local elections in May 2023.
You can campaign and You can vote for Independence. So many of you, residents of Orihuela Costa have had enough, want change, want independence.
Remember You pay their wages to work for you!
You provide more money from paying your taxes than the 27 Pedaneas / villages together, surrounding Orihuela city.
You, receive only a fraction of the budget to be spent on your town, Orihuela Costa, whereas the majority of the villages have every facility they need. You are entitled to the same!
You have only one Medical Centre to provide your health care and only one Post Office. No cultural centre, no library and no working emergency centre. Is this acceptable? No!
You have the same rights, therefore the only way to gain similar infrastructure and services is to campaign for Independence, together, as one integrated community, Orihuela Costa!
